Sanjay Bangar, a former India cricketer, has praised India's bowlers for their professional performance against New Zealand during the three-match T20I series.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Palel, along with pacers Bhuvneshwar Kun and Harshal Patel, were cited as the key players in India's bowling attack. India beat New Zealand 3-0 in T20Is. This was a great start for their preparations for the T20 World Cup in Australia next year.
"They have been very professional. They have been put under the pressure a little by the New Zealand openers, but the Indian spinners' response in the middle overs is fantastic. "Ashwin Patel and Axar Ptel have both been excellent in tandem and it has worked very well for the Indian team when they were chasing and in the middle overs," Bangar said on Star Sports' Follow The Bules.
Bangar spoke further about Kumar's recovery after being left out of the T20 World Cup opening game against Pakistan. He also highlighted his dismissal from Daryl Mitchell in Jaipur's first T20I.
Bhuvneshwar is a great player and can't be taken away from him. He's always played with the new ball and has his swing back. It was a dream for him to take the wicket in the first match against Daryl Mitchell. This is a great sign for the Indian team. He's someone who can give you the initial breakthroughs within the powerplay, which puts any opposition on the back foot. Bangar, who was the Indian batting coach from 2014 to 2019, praised Patel for his efforts in using variations at the back end of the innings.
"Additionally, Harshal Patel's debut match was an impressive feat because he is someone who relies heavily on slow ball variations and matches with a lot dew. He overcame the challenge and bowled well with a wetball and continued to use his variations with cutters, slow bouncers, and other techniques. This was also a huge plus for the Indian team. He then mentioned the consistent performance of openers Rohit Sharma (49 years old) in the series. "I feel that the consistent performance of both openers has been very clinical for the Indian team's performances in this series."
