Zoom will offer live translation in 12 languages by 2022

Zoom, a video conferencing app, announced Tuesday that it plans to add live translations for 12 languages to its automated transcription service.

"We are committed towards removing barriers to effective, dynamic communication and as such, we plan to expand Zoom's automated transcription system to 30 languages and add live translators to 12 languages within the next year," the company stated in a statement.

It added that Zoom connects users around the globe, and that this expansion of our transcription- and translation features will help overcome language barriers that can hinder dynamic communication.

In February, the company stated that it was working to make "automatic closed captioning" more accessible for all free account holders.

Other major changes were also announced by the company, including the whiteboard feature.

Zoom Whiteboard's enhanced version, which is expected to be available later in the year, will allow seamless, asynchronous collaboration across many devices and provide a more engaging, efficient meeting experience.

Virtual whiteboards will allow users to interact just like they would in person.

The company stated that they are also collaborating with Oculus from Facebook to create a Zoom Whiteboard Integration for Oculus Horizons Workrooms. This will allow users access to and annotations to a whiteboard in a virtual reality environment.

It also stated that the company will be adding a new toggle view to Zoom Chat channels in the coming months.

Huddle view gives users a visual representation for a channel. This will allow teams to feel closer together while they chat and collaborate.

The company will also offer its end-to–end encryption service to Zoom Phone. This allows users to upgrade toAend–to-end encryption when making one-on-one calls via the Zoom client.

The company stated that it plans to release native integrations to more cloud-storage tools such as Box and SharePoint later in the year. This will allow users to easily collaborate and share documents using the Zoom client, without having them switch between applications.
